Behind the scenes of Yahoo’s In The Know
My name is Cherilyn Beckles and I am a Producer in the New York Area.
Ever since I was a child I was engaged with media in some sense, whether I was taking photos on my mother’s old digital camera or making videos of my friends on Microsoft Movie Maker, I knew that I wanted to create and produce content.
During my time in undergrad at SUNY Oswego I studied Broadcast Journalism and Public Justice which strengthened my knowledge of journalism and increased my confidence on camera.
I then went to Syracuse University in the graduate program where I studied Visual Communications at Newhouse. There I felt like I finally found my place in the world and it was behind the camera, capturing moments and finding the why behind the why in my work. I produced, edited, and created projects and told stories that made personal impacts.
Currently, I am Producing two short fiction films and one documentary film.
